White house exterior with text overlay: Signs That You Should Repaint Your Exterior. Blue sky, green grass.

Our home exterior is an integral part of our homes, because it is essentially the first thing that people will see when they stumble upon our homes.

So, it is important that we maintain its appearance from time to time - and repainting your home exterior will be one of the best ways in doing this.

But, how do we exactly know when we should repaint our exterior? What are signs that we should be looking for in maintaining our exterior?

Without further ado, here are Signs That You Need To Repaint Your Exterior.

1. Fading Paint

One rather obvious sign that you need to repaint your exterior would be fading paint.

A sign that your exterior may be suffering from fading paint would be noticing that your exterior doesn't seem as vibrant or bright as before, or that your coat of paint looks dull or drab overall.

Paint fades due to a number of reasons, which could be: an overall poor quality in painting, forgetting to use primer before applying a coat of paint, using cheap, low-quality paint, or that your coat of paint has just naturally faded over time.

Fading paint can be extremely unsightly, which is why this is an obvious sign that you need to repaint once this happens to your exterior.

In repainting your exterior, you will want to ensure that you follow proper painting protocols, and that you invest in quality paint, so you can avoid the hassle of your brand new coat of paint fading again sooner than you would have expected.

2. Existing Paint Damage

If you have been seeing paint problems on your exterior's coat of paint, such as paint cracks, paint peeling, or just physical surface damage on your exterior, then this is another sign that you may need to repaint your exterior.

In handling paint problems, you should first ensure what kind of paint problem you are seeing on your exterior, so you can get the appropriate instructions on how to properly fix them.

There are lots of paint blogs and tutorials just available online - just give it a quick search and a skim, and you'll definitely find the fix to your paint dilemma!

In handling physical surface damage, on the other hand, you will need to patch up the damage on your exterior's surface first before you can apply a coat of paint to them.

It is important that you get these damages fixed first because merely splashing a coat of paint on them won't fix the initial physical damage that's already on the surface.

If any, it just emphasizes these damages, and will just result in an overall uneven and ugly paint finish.

3. Stains From Rust

If you have been noticing streaks of rust stains on your exterior that are just so stubborn to remove no matter how hard you try to scrub them off your exterior, then maybe it's a sign for you to just finally splash a fresh coat of paint on it and just get it over with.

Rust stains can be common, especially in our exteriors, and while some rust stains can be removed with repeated scrubbing, some stains are just fully embedded in the surface, and they can be unsightly.

To quickly remedy the situation, it would be much better for you to just decide to splash a coat of paint over them than spend endless hours trying to scrub them off your exterior's surface - that doesn't only waste your effort, but the constant scrubbing could also damage your existing coat of paint and in turn, your exterior surface itself.

4. Being Tired Of Its Current Color

It is very normal that over time, we may acquire different interests and likes - and if you have been thinking that you have grown tired of the current color of your exterior lately, then this is another perfect sign to repaint your exterior.

Essentially, you should be in control of how you want your home exterior to look, because it is your home.

And, if splashing a brand new color on your exterior will make you feel more comfortable and confident in your home, then you should do it!
