Our History
From a Van That Barely Started, to a Business That Won't Quit
Beginnings in Construction
I started in the construction field at the age of 15, helping my step-father hang gutters throughout the summers and on the weekends. As his company grew, he became dedicated to roofing; however, my stepfather believed it was too dangerous for me.
First Painting Job
I found a painting job at a facilities management company, which specialized in meticulous commercial painting for a large hedge fund in Fairfield County. After 5+ years of painting during off hours (5:00 PM – 1:00 AM and weekends), I realized that I needed to find a better work-life balance.
Pursuing Business Data Analytics
Soon after taking many classes at Gateway Community College, I transferred to the University of Connecticut to pursue a degree in Business Data Analytics. To pay my way through school, I was constantly doing painting side jobs for family and friends.
First Office Job
Post-graduation, I landed an office job with a great starting salary and many benefits. This “dream” job was not what I once thought it was. After many mornings dreading the commute and spending afternoons counting down the minutes to 5:00 PM, I took a giant leap of faith. With guidance from my business-minded stepfather, and painting skills from my previous employer, I started my very own painting company.
NHV Painters is Born
With guidance from my stepfather and experience in my hands, I launched NHV Painters with my friend Todd—out of a beat-up 1994 Chevy Astro Van that often wouldn’t start. But our promise was strong: treat every home like it’s our own. Since then, we’ve grown into a trusted team with five trucks on the road and hundreds of happy clients across Connecticut. And we’ve built a reputation around values that still guide us every day.
