Generally, the covering power of vinyl paint is not comparable to that of oil paint and even that of some acrylic paints. Vinyl paint does not generally apply to metals. It does not adhere to this kind of surface effectively. It is advisable to apply several thin coats of vinyl paint rather than a single thick one.
