Living Room Accent Wall Painting Tips To Learn In Milford, CT

2. Protect The Floor

As best as you can you must realize that you are going to drip down paint as you are applying it to the wall and you are also likely to drip some while you move around from one part of the room to another.

Therefore it is quite essential that you make use of some sort of drop cloth or tarp to protect the floor and it is key that you first check a couple of factors before sticking with one of these.

One of these is to figure out if the material you are going to use to protect the floor is going to allow paint to get through to the floor -- if it does, you know that you have not found the right material for covering the floor by your future accent wall.

Secondly, and just as important, you want to make sure that the covering for the floor is not going to shift around as you walk from one area to another -- if that were to happen, you would find yourself uncovering the floor, which would expose it to the dripping paint.

3. Clean The Wall

Though there's an idea that some people might have that when you are painting, the paint that you apply to the wall as well as the primer is just going to magically transform any surface into a much nicer looking one, that's not the case at all.

Indeed, if you start off with a dirty surface and just apply paint and primer to it, the end result is going to be much uglier than if you just let the wall alone and did nothing to it.

The paint and the primer would mix together with the dirt and the grime that has caked onto the surface of the wall and you would find that it is quite unpleasant.

If you want to avoid this unpleasantness, your best bet is to make the time to clean the wall that you are going to be painting and in doing so, remove the grime that would otherwise cake up.

In looking to get a nice looking accent wall in your living room, you may be inclined to put up some decorations -- things that really make the wall stand out from the other walls in the room.

However, you can even make a nice accent wall by starting off with a good paint job and the basis of that is knowing some foundational ideas in the area of accent wall painting.

With that being the case, let's have a look at some accent wall painting tips to know when you want a well painted accent wall.

1. Choose An Appropriate Color

An important thing for you to do when you're looking at painting your living room accent wall is to start out by choosing an appropriate color for the wall.

This is good to know because the whole key to having a good accent wall is that it should stand out from the other walls in the room and thus the color you choose should be contrasting.

There are many online tools that you can use to get a color that contrasts with the other walls in the room or you could of course tell your local paint store what color is in the room and get their help in finding a contrasting color.

You shouldn't choose a color that is too similar to the other walls in the room as that would entirely defeat the purpose of having an accent wall in the room in the first place.
